Practice Fractions With Your Kids At Home
Fraction fundamentals are an essential building block for kids to succeed in math
To practice fractions at home, all you need is an empty carton & pennies (or some other type of counter that will fit inside the egg cup).
In the example above you can see that 5 pennies are in the egg carton. The fraction would be 5/12. You can cut down the egg cartons to represent 8ths, 6th, 4th, etc.
Keep in mind, that any fraction with a 1 in the numerator is considered a UNIT fraction! Unit fractions represent one equal part of a whole. This term will be a key concept for the youngsters to master in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades!
We know those eggs are expensive…so might as well make them even more useful now!
